Has anyone had this problem:
On my way home from work yesterday, I happened to look down at my J&S dual monitor and niticed that the 1st timing LED was flickering like crazy! It did this for about 10 minutes or so and then I was home. It didn't do it this morning though. Any ideas? Thanks. Tom

Loose knock sensor? or sensativity is set too high and picking up engine noise.

Haven't broke out the torque wrench yet, but it feels very tight. What's strange though, I haven't adjusted the sensitivity recently, so why would it be picking up engine noise now versus before? Another note...LED 1 sometimes flickers even on deceleration! The connection from the TPS is good all the way to the J&S brain. ??? Tom

Try switching the small switch that makes it retard in all cylinders instead of just the one (unless it's already in that mode). See if it becomes constant, if so it may mean it's picking up something in 1 cylinder it wasn't before.

I had a similar problem about a week ago. I was cruising on the freeway at about 4000 rpm in 4th gear and all of a sudden the entire knock LED goes apeshit. It starts flashing like mad all over the place. Even at idle for some strange reason. I plan on checking the connnections today. I'll post later what I find out.

Marc,
Ever find anything wrong with your J&S flickering problem? Tom

Mine did the same thing while I was at idle too. No one was in car with me though. Tom

The J&S won't arm itself until the throttle is pressed in a certain amount. If it flickers all the time, even when the throttle is not depressed, I'd call J&S.
If not, yes, it might be something loose causing noise.

Well I went to check the connections and everything seems fine. I also went to double check to make sure the knock sensor was torqued down properly but I discovered my torque wrench had broken on a previous usage. It seemed OK though. The problem has never arisen since then. I'll just assume it was a freak of nature.
I thought about it a little today. A friend of mine was riding in the passenger seat when this happnened. Perhaps his foot was hitting the J&S box/wiring and I didn't realize it. Perhaps that's what caused the unusual readings? It even gave a light at idle which it is not supposed to do.
